 Back pain is very common, 90%  of  adults suffer from back pain at some stage in their life and it is one of  the most common reasons for visiting a doctor. The back is a complex structure consisting of  muscles, nerves, joints, bones and other structure and a problem in any part can cause back pain. The spine or backbone consists of 24 vertebrae which are stacked on top of each other. Discs are spongy cushions between the vertebrae which give the spine flexibility and absorb shock. The vertebrae and discs are held together by the ligaments.

Back pain usually occurs from strained back muscles and ligaments caused by lifting heavy objects or sudden twisting of  the back. 1. Herniated disk: (called a slipped disc) When the disks that make up the spinal cord press against a nerve because it is torn or distorted

2. Spondylosis :  is a type of arthritis affecting the spine, in which the backbone changes due to aging.

3. Spinal stenosis: A nerve is pinched or pressed as the space between the spinal cord and nerve roots narrow due to aging. When the sciatic nerve is damaged, there can be a pain in the leg also, and this condition is called sciatica.

4. Injury:  The muscles or bones in the back are damaged due to an accident
